Music and Wine Highlights

Friday, August 11

Once again there’s a lot to choose from, but who doesn’t want to ride the Barbie wave right now? (Even if your job is just beach!) The Alma Rosa Tasting Room is hosting a Barbie and Rosé inspired Pink Party with music, specials on flights of a trio of rosé wines, and prizes for the best Ken and Barbie costumes.

Saturday, August 12

Jonathan McEuen returns to Brander in the afternoon. We haven’t seen him play in a while, and you never know who he’ll bring along, but it’s always a good time. Then in the evening it’s back to Maverick for the California country sounds of Dave Bernal. We’ve been practicing our dance steps. Honorable mentions Saturday go to The Reserve at Cold Spring, indianfoodLA doing lunch at Foxen — we know, we know, that’s technically Santa Maria, but the food and wine is worth the extra few miles — and Falcon Heavy rocking Fig Mountain in Los Olivos just like that Falcon 9 launch last night rocked the SYV Buzz compound. Did y’all catch that one?


Sunday, August 13

If you’re still up for drinking on Sunday afternoon, don’t miss the Tenacious Tannins seminar from sommelier Billie Rolla at Firestone. We sat in on this one a while back and learned a lot while having a great time. Highly recommended. Alternatively, there’s the Lifecycle of the Vine wine seminar earlier that morning at Folded Hills Homestead. Theoretically you might be able to do both, but we’re not that young anymore. Maybe we’ll just head over to Koehler for some jazz with the Radio Prophets.
