How Randy Hansen Turns a Vineyard Into a “Safe Kind of High”

Sometimes you go to a show, and halfway through, you realize you’re grinning without even knowing it. That’s what happens when you see Randy Hansen live.

This Saturday, July 12, he’s bringing his Strat and that wild, joyful Hendrix vibe to Brander Winery & Vineyard, turning a mellow wine country evening into something electric. If you’ve never seen Randy, you should know: he doesn’t just play Hendrix songs; he feels them, and your ears feel them too. This will be Fred Brander’s biggest concert ever to celebrate the legendary winery’s 50th anniversary.

“Voodoo Child,” “Little Wing,” “Machine Gun”—“these songs come alive in a way that’s raw, playful, and a little bit chaotic, in the best possible way. Randy’s the kind of guitarist who will be halfway through a solo, look up at the sky, and just laugh before diving right back in. It’s ridiculously contagious!,” laughs Fred.

Brander is an iconic venue. There’s something wonderful about hearing music float over the vineyard that makes you want to kiss the sky. Glass of wine in hand, surrounded by people who are all there to enjoy live music and to celebrate the place that’s been part of the community for half a century. This will be the kind of night that makes you want to stay a little longer, and dance a little harder.

If you’re looking to add a big dose of buzz to your weekend, Brander’s 50th Anniversary Courtyard Concert is it. Doors at 3pm. Whiskey ’N Rye barbecue truck serving smoked brisket, pulled pork, wings, vegetarian options, and signature sides and sweets.

UPDATE: And now the bad news, the event is already SOLD OUT! But don't let that stop you from celebrating Brander's 50th anniversary on your own by stopping by any other day this week!
