This week in the Santa Ynez Valley (September 19)

It’s another busy week here at SYV Buzz, with almost too much on our to-do list. Just as we thought we’d recovered from last weekend’s Viking invasion in Solvang, it’s time for another big festival — this time the 77th annual Los Alamos Old Days. That and another lineup of outstanding wine and music events all over the valley is making it hard to pick our highlights. As always, click the Events link above for a complete list.

Music and Wine Highlights

Today and Tomorrow

Tonight (Tuesday) there’s a pizza party at Bodega Los Alamos featuring wine from So Fresh and even a free hat. Wednesday night, Brady Harris brings his guitar to Lost Chord in Solvang. We really enjoyed his playing a few weeks back at Kalyra.

Thursday, September 21

Jimbo Scott & Yesterday’s Biscuits along with Jeff Berkley will be bringing their big beards and Americana singer-songwriter vibes to Lost Chord.

Friday, September 22

Los Alamos Old Days runs Friday through Sunday with live music, a parade, a barbecue contest, and lots more. Different Strings and The Fossils are in the lineup. Or stick around Solvang for the Wine & Song Roadshow at Lost Chord featuring Brad Colerick, Chauncey Bowers, and Cynthia Carle.

Saturday, September 23

Arrowsmith’s Wine Bar in Solvang is hosting singer-songwriter Rusty Lindsey & Friends. We’ve been meaning to check out Arrowsmith’s for a while, and this looks like a good night to do it.

Sunday, September 24

Tommy Drinkard & the Remedy describe themselves as an electric power trio, and they’ll be bringing their electric fun to Brick Barn. It looks like a good time will be had by all. And then that evening it’s back to Lost Chord from the trad roots (mixed with pop) sounds of The Young Fables.
