This week in the Santa Ynez Valley (August 16)

We’ve got some great music buzz this week, along with some near-fall wine events as everybody gets excited about the upcoming harvest season. For a shortcut to what’s happening in the coming days, click EVENTS in the navigation bar — or read on for our top picks!

Music and Wine Highlights

Wednesday, August 16

With all that’s been going on this summer, we haven’t had the chance to enjoy any music in Solvang Park after hitting Farmers’ Market. This week is a good time to change that since the band is Dirty Cello — a string ensemble that blends blues, bluegrass, world music, and maybe a Led Zeppelin cover or two if we’re lucky.

Thursday, August 17

We’ll be heading over to Lost Chord for Tremoloco, a band that describes itself as a mix of Gulf Coast roots, Sonoran gothic folk, and Tex-Mex American cantina music. Who can resist?

Friday, August 18

This one’s a tough call. We’re leaning towards Kyle Eldridge’s Country & Western honky tonk sounds at High Roller Tiki Lounge. Otherwise it’s back to Lost Chord for blues, country, and southern rock from Jeremiah Johnson.

Saturday and Sunday, August 19–20

We’re always happy when Bryan Titus is back in town, and this weekend the trio gives us two choices: They’re playing Fess Parker’s SummerFess on Saturday, then heading over to Maverick Saloon on Sunday. Other good choices are Zaca Mesa’s Makers’ Faire, Noach Tangeras at The Good Life in Solvang, and the Festa del Pomodoro at Vega Vineyard.
