This week in the Santa Ynez Valley (August 22)

So how did that hurricane treat everybody? It barely grazed us here in the valley, so if you’re looking for a place to dry out, we’ve got you covered. For a shortcut to what’s happening this week, click EVENTS in the navigation bar — or read on for our top picks!

Music and Wine Highlights

Thursday, August 24

Our pick tonight is acoustic indie folk from singer/songwriter Dave Tate. We’ve been doing a lot of dancing lately, so this will be a nice opportunity to just sit down for a while and listen to nice music with a glass of good wine. Oh yeah, this one’s at Lost Chord.

Friday, August 25

Speaking of good wine, you don’t want to miss the Fresh Wine Fest at Pico Los Alamos. If crunchy reds, funky orange, and crisp whites are your thing, you’ll enjoy tastings from Story of Soil, Storm, Lumen, Press Gang, Ampelos, Disko, Little Soul, Entity of Delight, Final Girl, RZN, Dreamcote, Riding Monkey, LoFi, Roark, Piazza, and Luna Hart.

Saturday, August 26

Remember how we said we’ve been doing a lot of dancing lately? We’ve been giving our boots a great workout at Maverick, but now we’ve got the chance to switch things up with an actual Hoedown at Roblar Farm. That means more wine, great barbecue, two-step and line dancing instruction, and music from Teddy Spanke & the Tex Pistols. If you’d rather go with something a little less rural, we recommend the surfy indie pop of Gina Georgette & the Monarchs at High Roller Tiki Lounge.
