Live music in Solvang and Santa Ynez this week

This week in the Santa Ynez Valley (August 29)

If summer is starting to slow down out there because the kids are headed back to school, we’re not feeling it yet. The live music scene here is as busy as ever, and the wineries are gearing up for their fall harvest celebrations. Music and Wine Highlights

Thursday, August 31

We’ll start things with an easy pick: Ramon Fermin at Lost Chord. He plays classical and fingerstyle guitar with his instrumental chamber rock ensemble, but this will be a solo show.

Friday, September 1

It’s back to Lost Chord again (again) for the double bill of Arwen Lewis (local folk and alt-country singer/songwriter) and Al Staehely (twangy country and honky tonk).

Saturday, September 2

We’re keeping our options open on Saturday. Flip a three-sided coin and you might catch us watching singer/songwriter Jacob Cole at Arrowsmith’s Wine Bar, enjoying the swampy rock and Louisiana blues of Hot Roux at High Roller Tiki Lounge, or hitting the modern country dance floor with Rebel Heart at Maverick Saloon — because, you know … we’ve got these boots.

Sunday, September 3

Sunday seems like a good day to rock some Americana (
Brady Harris) Australian style (Kalyra Winery). And now we’re tired and ready to send the kids back to school.
